Die Cutting Challenge in the Moxie Fab World

Here's my entry for the Die Cutting Challenge on the Moxie Fab Blog, http://www.moxiefabworld.com/search?updated-max=2012-01-10T06:00:00-05:00&max-results=10.

I used my Cricut Expression and the Accents Essentials cartridge to cut the elements on this card. I did a negative die cut image of the floral flourish and backed it with a piece of green striped pattern paper using pop dots to give a shadow box effect. I then added die cut flowers that I cut in two colors, dry embossed and then layered with a brad as the flower center. I finished it off with a simple birthday sentiment banner. I really like how the shadow box effect turned out, so I think I'll be using that again.

Unity Stamp Company Challenge

This month's Unity Challenge is all about gift giving. So, I made a cute birthday gift tag using the Unity/Jillibean Soup co-branded set Spotted Owl Soup. I have not used this set much and it was fun to get it out and ink it up. I used my Copics to color the image and made my own background paper using one of the smaller stamps in the set. Stampendous January 2012 Challenge

This month's Stampendous Challenge is to use lots of bling on a project. I made this card using Stampendous Clear sets SSC113 and SSC134. After stamping the vine and leaf images, I colored them using Prismacolor pencils and added Stampendous Silver Blossom Sparklers Class A Peel Stickers. I used some blue gemstones for the flower centers. It needed a bit more bling so I used a beaded flower embellishment as the main focal point. I really enjoyed combining the stickers and flower with the stamped elements.

Stampendous Saturday Challenge

Here's my entry for the Stampendous Color Challenge. We had to use Pink, Brown, Cream and/or gold.

My flowers are stamped using the Ruffled Blooms stamp set by Stampendous with Versamark ink. I then colored the flowers with pink chalk and the background with gold chalk. I added brown to the flower centers using a colored pencil and then sprayed gold alcohol ink mist around the edges of the card stock. I stamped the sentiment, added ribbon and adhered it to the card stock using pop dots.

Friends With Flair

Okay, I got my Unity Kit of the Month earlier this week and it is seriously cute!! Just when I think I have more than enough stamps, Angela and team come up with another adorable set! Oh well, I surrender! ;)

So, I dug into the kit and here's what I came up with, I just love those chubby bumble bees! The sentiment is so adorable and I know I will use that for so many projects, I can just see it paired with some cute critters cut with my Cricut.

Christmas in July FWF!

I attended a get together with some card making friends last weekend and the theme was "Christmas in July." It was a fun time and brought to mind cooler days in spite of the nearly 100 degree heat here in St. Louis! Here is the project I brought to share. The wreath is from a Unity past kit of the month and the sentiment is from Inkadinkadoo. I used a white gel pen to add snow on the branches and berries and I used a red Spica glitter pen to color the berries.

Moxie Fab World Challenge

Cath is having another challenge and this time she wants us to use border strips in an unusual way. It is sooooo hot today, so naturally I thought of ice cream and one of my all time favorites- Neapolitan! I used a couple of border strips to make the chocolate and strawberry ice cream. I simply adhered them to the die cut ice cream cone and then trimmed the excess off, easy peasy! Today I have two bright and summery cards to share. Both of them use stamps from some of Unity's fabulous Kits of the Month. I used this month's Kit of the Month Sketch so that I can enter these in the challenge.

On the first card I used the flowers from the October 2009 KOM and the cute bumble bee from the December 2010 kit. I usually color my images with Copic markers, but this time I used my Prismacolor Watercolor pencils and a blender pen. I had forgotten how fun it is to do that technique.

On the second card I used the sun stamp from the July 2009 KOM and the sentiment from the October 2010 KOM. It is fun to go back through your stamps and see what ones will work well together, it really expands your options.

FWF and some news to share

First off is my big news, I have 4 cards published in this month's issue of Cricut Magazine, I am so excited! Because the focus of this publication is Cricut, the main focal point must be a Cricut image, however, I did use Unity Stamps for the sentiment of three of the cards. I love how so many of Unity's cute sentiments go so well with Cricut images, so fun to combine the two.

Just a simple, one layer card today which is so quick and easy to make. I used a mask and some blue chalk to create the oval sky. When I saw that the monochromatic color scheme was pink I was a bit relieved. I do not do monochromatic very well, but I do love pink so this one was really fun! I searched through all my Cricut images and when I saw this car on the new Nifties Fifties Cartridge I knew it was perfect for this pink challenge. It is not a pink Cadillac but as close as I could get!

Metallic Color Challenge for Color Inspiration for Card Makers Week in the Moxie Fab World

I felt that using dry embossing would be the best way to show off the metallic finishes on my card. I embossed a flower on a piece of foil sheet to make the flower embellishment. I added pearls as the seeds. I also embossed the metallic background paper using a Cuttlebug folder. Although I did not include a sentiment, I think this would be an appropriate card for a wedding or anniversary.

This card is for the Jewel Tones Color Challenge. At first I thought that Jewel Tones should be used for something elegant and fancy, but my mojo took me in a completely different direction. I kept thinking about purple monsters and after digging through my stamps I found this cute little guy. I thought he would make a fun way to say hello to a special child or an adult who is young.

Pretty Pastels Color Challenge for Color Inspiration for Card Makers Week in the Moxie Fab World

The next challenge for Color Inspiration for Card Makers Week in the Moxie Fab World is to use pastels. You can join in the fun at http://www.moxiefabworld.com/2011/01/color-inspiration-for-card-makers-week_11.html

For this card I first stamped a variety of flowers and then colored them and the sky with my Copic Markers. (Love those Copic Markers!). I then overlayed a die cut ornamental fence gate to give the illusion that the flowers are in an enclosed garden. I made the die cut using my Cricut Expression and a new cartridge called Ornamental Iron, which has such cool images. Finally I added a small stamped and colored butterfly to add a little bit of dimension and a finishing touch. I also doodled lightly around the card edge with a fine line black marker.

Growing in Unity Day 4

Welcome to Day 4 of my Unity Week Growing in ! I have been having so much fun playing with my Unity Stamps this week and decided to make a Christmas card. I know it is not even Thanksgiving yet, however, when you make cards you have to think ahead. This adorable ornament image came in the October 2011 Kit of the Month. Isn't it just perfect for paper piecing? I did add some sparkle to the letters with a Copic Spica Glitter Pen, but, it does not show up in the photo. It was a pretty quick and easy card to make. Growing in Unity Day 3

Am I a Unity Addict? Well, judging by the shear number of Unity Stamps in my stash, I guess I am! I freely admit it and make no apologies. This hobby has brought me countless hours of creative joy and enabled me to make many cards that I have shared with others in times of joy, encouragement and sadness. Unity is consistently producing new and trendy images that a girl just has to have! You know it's true!

Here's two projects I made this week. First up is my non-card project made for the Unity Addicts Challenge UAC25. I have an ever growing collection of Copic markers, love them! So I thought I would make a pen holder to try and contain some of them.

Here's my project for this week's Unity Addicts Challenge, UAC26. The charge is to make a project that reminds you of a favorite Fairy Tale. I chose Peter Pan, which is not technically a Fairy Tale, but a great story nonetheless. I have had these fabulous Unity stamps in my collection for a while and I can not remember if I have ever used them before. However, I felt they were the perfect combo to depict Tinkerbell and her magic.

Growing in Unity Day Two

Hi Unity Friends! Hope you are having a great day and are enjoying the crisp Autumn weather. I have a couple of gift card sets to share with you today.

The first one is a little set of gift enclosure cards that are a very simple design that would be appropriate for a man. I love those leaf images from the September Kit of the Month, I have already used them a lot. The box to hold the gift cards is made from a used jewelry gift box with a matching belly band to hold it closed.

No doubt about it, this next gift card set is all girl! The Ooh La La French theme and pink, black and white color scheme makes this the perfect gift for a special woman in your life, such as mom, sister, best friend or favorite aunt. The gift card holder is made from one sheet of double sided 12 x 12 paper folded diagonally to create a pocket in front and back and lined with pink card stock. The set consists of 4 cards with matching envelopes which fit perfectly in the pockets of the holder.

Growing in Unity Day One

Welcome to my blog. I am so thrilled to be celebrating my Growing in Unity Week with you! I discovered Unity Stamp Company about 18 months ago and have been a devoted customer ever since. I quickly became a Kit of the Club member not only because I loved the images offered, but, because it is such a great deal. The stamps are high quality rubber and the kits are only $26 per month, which works out to be a little over $1 per stamp!!! Seriously where can you get current, stylish, trendy, high quality stamps for that price?

The leaf image I used in the masculine cards below is from the September 2010 KOM. So cute and just in time for the fall season of stamping! I made the grungeboard from a recycled piece of cardboard from some packaging. I dry embossed, distressed the edges and inked it with some distress inks. It's easy and what a great feeling to recycle in this way.

I have been busy getting ready for World Card Making Day, which is this Saturday, October 2. I will be having a BLOG CANDY giveaway so make sure you check back in then. I tried a couple of new things this week and I hope you like the results. The first card features "Collage Stamping" which I heard is all the rage now. It was a lot of fun combining multiple stamps to create the image and it gave me a chance to use my Glimmer Mists, which I don't use often enough. I have so many wonderful Unity stamps that I can't wait to use for this technique. The second card features some decorative packing tape that I purchased this week. Can it be Friday again already???? I didn't have time this week to do much crafting but managed to squeak this one out. Just a simple note card featuring the adorable bird and ledger image from Unity's August 2010 KOM. Black and white gives my cards so much classic appeal and the little pop of aqua gives it the zip. Amuse Monthly Challenge
