Gina K Design Team

Here are several cards I made for the Gina K/Stamp TV August Design Team Guest Spot challenge. These cards include one of my favorite techniques - coloring. Gina has a technique video on coloring with colored pencils and has used Copic markers in other videos. When I first started coloring my stamped images I used colored pencils exclusively, but then I discovered Copic Markers! If you have used them then you know how fabulous they are. Because they are alcohol based they blend beautifully and do not cause the paper to pill or tear. Gina K Designs has so many stamps that are perfect for coloring.

This stained glass window card also uses the cracked glass technique, although in the end I chose not to crack the glass because I felt it would look better smooth. I created the window using several Gina K Stamp sets. The oval in the center is from the Versatile Verses set. The panes (lines of leading) are created using one of the stamps from the In Stitches set, carefully placing the images using a Stamp a Majig. I then used A Year of Flowers to create the leaf in the center of the window. I colored the image using my Copic markers to give a stained glass effect and added the Glossy Accents for dimension. I think this is a good example of how versatile Gina K Stamps are, with several sets I was able to create something that the stamps were not even designed for. I encourage you to look at your sets with a new eye and see what you can create.

The cards below also use the Adding Glitter with Pens technique and the Patterned Embossing technique using a Cuttlebug folder as well as coloring with the Copic markers.

Unity Friends With Flair

Hi friends! Today I have a happy butterfly card for you. The butterfly image is from the Unity Stamp set "Bevy of Butterflies", which is such a fun and versatile set. The sentiment is from a Kit of the Month (I think). I attached the butterflies to the card in the centers only, leaving their wings free, and used some buttons as their bodies to give them a bit of dimension. Hope you enjoyed seeing this card! Leave a comment and become a follower- I really appreciate it!

American Crafts Ink Pads Challenge

I found another fun challenge over at http://www.americancrafts.typepad.com/. For this challenge you had to use ink, stamps, and at least two American Crafts products. I love American Crafts products, especially the paper! For this card I used paper from the Backyard collection and the Mini Mark Rub-Ons called Sprout Accents. I made the background music paper with a sheet music stamp and a birthday sentiment.

Unity Friends With Flair

Hi everyone! Thanks for stopping by today. Don't you just love celebrations? Birthdays, especially. I love the process of selecting, buying and wrapping a special gift for someone I love. And of course, I love making a special card to go along with that handpicked gift. For this birthday card I used the cute cake image from the May 2010 Kit of the Month. Inside I used two sentiments, one from the June 2009 KOM and the other from Birthday Chic. Don't be afraid to mix stamps from different sets and use sentiments that did not originally accompany the image stamp, the possibilities are endless!
Please scroll to yesterday's post to see my exciting news about being published! Also please leave a much appreciated comment and have a blessed day!
