World Card Making Day began in 2006 and is still going strong. Held on the first Saturday of October each year, it was started by Paper Crafts Magazine and has become a day for card makers to celebrate this hobby together, online and in person. There will be lots of fun things going on, including a Blog Hop (might be how you got here). Go to http://www.worldcarmakingday.com/ for all the details.

In honor of this day I am sponsoring a BLOG CANDY giveaway! You could be the lucky winner of the crafting goodies pictured above. To be entered you must become a follower of my blog and ALSO leave a comment on this post (make sure you leave a way for me to contact you, ie. email address) , easy peazy! If you are already a follower, simply leave a comment, you do not have to become a follower again. The contest will run for the next two weeks so spread the word! Sorry, but due to shipping costs, I must limit this giveaway to USA residents only.

I am getting ready to box up and send off another batch of cards to Operation Write Home, this time over 250 cards. I save the cards I make for various challenges and contests and add these to cards I make expressly for OWH and when I have enough, off they go. This wonderful organization sends cards to our military serving overseas so they have cards to send home. Go check it out at http://www.operationwritehome.org/ (or the link on my sidebar) and see how you can help.

Thanks for visiting, have a blessed day!

Unity Friends With Flair

I have been busy getting ready for World Card Making Day, which is this Saturday, October 2. I will be having a BLOG CANDY giveaway so make sure you check back in then. I did manage to make this fairly quick and easy card for the SRM Stickers/Operation Write Home Sketch Challenge this week. I really enjoy making cards and entering contests and challenges, however, I end up with a huge pile of cards sitting around. Now I box them up and ship them off to Operation Write Home so that the military overseas have handmade cards to send home. I love using my Unity stamps to make cards for Operation Write Home, there are so many wonderful images and sentiments to choose from. Head over to http://www.operationwritehome.org/ and see what you can do to help this worthy cause.

Now for the part you've all been looking for - The Blinkie! Yep, that's it, right there.

Don't forget to leave a comment for your chance to win some fabulous Unity Stamps! Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to check out my BLOG CANDY post on Saturday October 2.

Count Down to World Card Making Day Challenge

World Card Making Day is coming this Saturday, October 2, 2010! In honor of that Betsy Veldman has challenge us to make a card for the holidays using a non-holiday card as inspiration. The inspiration card must be found in the fabulous Paper Crafts Special Issue: Card Creations: Volume 8. Check out the details on her blog at: www.scrapbookgirl.typepad.com.

I was inspired by the card "Pretty Best Wishes" on page 140, a wedding card. I love the simple, elegant design and the color combination. Here's my Christmas card based on this beautiful card:

This week I was in the mood for a happy card with some fun color. This little owl stamp (August 2010 KOM) and sentiment fit the bill! Amuse Sketch Challenge #20

There's a monthly challenge in the Amuse Lounge and this month you can choose from one of three sketches. I choose the clean and simple design and here's what I came up with.

Unity Friends With Flair

I tried a couple of new things this week and I hope you like the results. The first card features "Collage Stamping" which I heard is all the rage now. It was a lot of fun combining multiple stamps to create the image and it gave me a chance to use my Glimmer Mists, which I don't use often enough. I have so many wonderful Unity stamps that I can't wait to use for this technique. The second card features some decorative packing tape that I purchased this week. I think it is a really easy way to add color and pizazz to a card. Have a great time on the Blog Hop today and leave a comment if you have time. Thanks!

Unity Friends With Flair

Can it be Friday again already???? I didn't have time this week to do much crafting but managed to squeak this one out. Just a simple note card featuring the adorable bird and ledger image from Unity's August 2010 KOM. Black and white gives my cards so much classic appeal and the little pop of aqua gives it the zip. Hope you like. Did you see Unity's September 2010 Kit of the Month??? It is really cute, full of really usable images and sentiments! I can't wait to get mine! Things are really hopping over at Unity, the orders from Summer CHA are pouring in, people are being hired and everyone is working hard to keep up. Not bad in this economy! Congrats to Angela and all the Unity Team for a job well done! Check it out at www.unitystampco.com.

Operation Write Home Birthday Bash!

All during the month of September, Operation Write Home is celebrating it's birthday! Yeah! This wonderful organization collects handmade cards to be used by our military heroes overseas to write home. You can help them out by hosting a card making event during September, or by simply making cards on your own and shipping them to OWH. Check out their website for all the details you will need to know (ie.: No Glitter on cards) www.operationwritehome.org. Hero Arts stamp company is hosting a virtual card making party in support of Operation Write Home's Birthday Bash. This event takes place on September 10 - 12 on their blog and in the Hero Arts Flickr group, check it out at www.heroarts.com.

Amuse Monthly Challenge

Here's one for the Monthly Challenge in the Amuse Lounge (www.amuselounge.com). The challenge was to use pattern paper or create your own pattern paper using Amuse stamps. I made the leafy background paper with a stamp from the clear set "Simple Wishes" using Versamark Ink. I added the cute squirrel and sentiment to make it a perfect way to send a little love to someone this Fall.

Unity Friends With Flair Friday

Here's one I made for this week's Unity Hip Hop Challenge. I love, love, love this sun image! I have used it so many times and never get tired of seeing it! Summer may be coming to a close, but with this fun Unity stamp you can keep it alive in your crafting all year long!

I just love this Unity Typewriter stamp, too cute and so versatile! Here I paired it with a sentiment from another stamp company to complete my theme. Don't you just love that pattern paper from Studio 45, so retro! I used cork as my background to mimic a bulletin board. Hope you like it, please leave a much appreciated comment and enjoy the rest of the FWF Blog Hop.
